Performance marketing platform Vungle has a new monetization deal with LINE Plus Corporation. Vungle wants to boost its platform for in-app video ads. LINE Plus, based in Japan, is a smart portal which provides free chat messenger, video call, and other services.

The collaboration, coming on the heels of Vungle’s news that company sales have reached $300 million annually, means developers on the Vungle platform should have easier access to mobile consumers in Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Thailand.

“With the exclusive collaboration, Vungle will continue to expand its footprint in APAC and provide developers with the support needed to drive revenue and user engagement,” the company says.

Grabbing a bigger share of in-app advertising revenues is the goal. Those revenues are forecasted to reach $117.2 billion in 2020, up from $40.5 billion in 2015. Today, developers are designing strategies to integrate in-app advertising into apps — especially in-app video ads, which research suggests increase retention rates and drive in-app purchases.

“Interactive in-app video ads drive engagement and convert well, and they’ve become a leading strategy for app monetization,” said Zain Jaffer, Vungle’s CEO. “In fact, some mobile developers are earning over 90 percent of their total revenue by working with Vungle for in-app video monetization.”
